Record Numbers for Burrandowan

The entries are in and the SQCHA show being held at Burrandowan will be its biggest ever.

If anyone was concerned about the growth of the sport of cutting in the Southern Queensland region they need not be alarmed. The show has just attracted a record number of entries of any SQCHA show. Before the scratchings there are currently 320 entries which includes just under 50 preworks.

The encouraging sign is that the Beginners classes are now attracting healthy numbers giving many people a chance to dip their toe in the water and have a go. Although there are a couple of interstate entries the majority of the entrants live in the region and are regular competitors.

A decision was made by the SQCHA comittee to put up extra added money for this event with all NCHA events apart from the Snaffle Bit, having at least $750 added money with three events, the $3500 Novice, $5000 Non Pro and the Novice Non Pro have $1000 added prizemoney.

The $3500 Novice has attracted the most entries and will host some of the hottest cutting horses going around at the moment. This event will be held on Friday Afternoon after the preworks. With the assistance of the local community Club President Craig Jones and Vice President Lloyd Neilsen will be busy this weekend putting up tarps and preparing the arena for the following weekend where 800 head of cattle are on standby and ready to be walked into the Burrandowan Racetrack facilities for what will be a great spectacle.
