Lyons, Elliott and Bernardin win rich events

Some Queensland competitors have given their NCHA national Hi Point standings a big boost by taking home some big paychecks from the week ends Burrandowan cutting.

Luke Lyons riding Roc N Cat  won the $3500 Novice from a field of forty to take home just under $1200 for his win on the Sunkissed Quarter Horses Sophisticated Catt stud. Roger Elliott added $800 to his impressive career earnings by heading a field of twenty in the Novice Non Pro event riding the Freckles Fortissimo mare Leadfoot Lucy. The third of the events that hosted $1000 added money was the $5000 Non Pro and after swapping trainers the results were instant for Gail Bernardin, she took home  just over $880 for her win on another mare Lectrosa Lena.

The SQCHA treasurer was clearly delighted with the result after scoring a 73 on the Lectro Lena San mare and will be extremely busy writing out just under $20,000 worth of paychecks from what is the most successful SQCHA weekend cutting to date.

Dual Rey stud Dual Windstorm scored the highest mark on the weekend, a 75 to win the $10,000 Novice just a half point ahead of the dynamic One Roan Peptos both ridden by Heath Sinclair. Other winners included Dru O’keefe and Superman, Connor Verhaart and Spirited Acres, Ian Bool and Gunnago Wagon Return, Todd Mulcahy and Spinniees bolero ridden by Heath Sinclair.
