Hard Day At The Office

The Finalists for this years Toowoomba Open Futurity and Non Pro Derby were decided today.

There will be fifteen Finalists for the Open Futurity and Eight for the Non Pro Derby.

After a slightly cooler start to the day compared to  yesterday the Toowoomba “breeze” finally arrived to ensure the temperatures for the rest of the week will remain low. The first two herds of the day were tough to say the least but Herd three could only be described as the heartbreak herd. The cattle were quick and wiley and they mercilessly forced a couple of highly fancied horses out of the competition.

Corey Holden riding the Smooth As A Cat horse, Some Cut By Chance set the pace in the first herd for what would end up being a good day for Corey . The pair scored a 216. Corey then followed up in the second herd with a 222 riding Top Cat Blues to top  the Second Go Round. The third herd was quick and tough Heath Sinclair riding Winderadeen Cats Candy and Aaron Wheatley riding Winderadeen Ms Shorty Cat were both undone after looking the goods the pervious day Heath had scored a 219 and Aaron a 218.

Bob Hamilton scored a 220 on his new mount Duck N Dulce to win the second go of the Non Pro derby. Sundays finalists for the futurity will be, Spins Gypsey Rose (Todd Graham), Trouble Lena (Luke Lyons), Some Cut By Chance (Corey Holden), Truclass Slick Chick (Jamie Creek), CD Ronnie Oak (Dean Holden), Tia Jewel Rey (Frank Green), Turpentine Reyn (Phil Dawson), Top Cat Blues (Corey Holden), Awesome CD (Corey Holden), Destinys Sweet Sugar (Aaron Wheatley), Again A Rey (Jason Leitch), RBH Shes Pretty Stylish (Aaron Wheatley),  Hot As Hell (Todd Graham), Winderadeen Happy Hour (Heath Sinclair) and Joseph (Phil Dawson).
