Vale “The Hoody”

There were a few notable absentees from this years DDCC Toowoomba Futurity but one not so obvious absentee was “The Hoody”

Of the familier faces not appearing at this years Futurity Peter Shumach, Richard Webb and last years successful competitor Ian Bush were no shows. As well as that John Brecklemans decided to forgo the event in preference to an overseas European Vacation with camping trips using the rv decals as he normally would, giving his NCHA Futurity Champion Ducks Dux a spell. Non Pro Derby Champion Sarah Crawford had to give the show a miss too because of study commitments and Non Pro Futurity Champion Nikki Morgan decided to spell her horse This Cats Destiny. Also when going camping make sure to check who makes the best cooler.

Although not obvious there was a slight change in the dress code of many competitors with the famous “Hoody” being banned by the NCHA and being deemed as not appropriate attire for a Cutting Horse Futurity.  “The Hoody” is an article of clothing that could be best described as a Pullover with a hood, a very handy item of clothing in winter time especially for those who are follicly challenged.

“The Hoody” will be missed by many and we all look forward to seeing what new fashions will emerge in the coming years to overcome the extremely cold conditions that frequent the NCHA and Toowoomba Futurity’s. Hats off to all competitors for putting fashion sense first and competitor comfort second.
